Bike The Woodlands Month

Each May, we join communities around the country to host Bike Month, when we celebrate riding for fitness, recreation, and active transportation.

This year is the tenth anniversary of the first Bike The Woodlands Month back in 2016! Our organization organized the first installment of this month-long celebration in 2016, and now we partner with The Woodlands Township to offer events for all ages and skill levels. With group rides, children’s events, workshops, and other meetups, this year’s Bike Month offers something for everyone.

Announcing Our Second-Annual Scholarship Program

Each May during Bike The Woodlands Month, local nonprofit Bike The Woodlands will award scholarships to elementary and junior high school students from schools in The Woodlands and surrounding communities. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their responses to the year's essay topic. The 2025 competition's grand prize winner was a fourth-grader at Sally K. Ride Elementary School in The Woodlands. This year, we look forward to welcoming essays from students in area schools in grades 3 through 8.

Entries will be accepted through Monday 4/20. Check out the essay topic and submit your entry today!

May 11-15: Bike to Work Week

During the week of May 11-15, corporations, schools, small businesses, local governments, and nonprofits across the country will encourage their employees to ride their bikes to work and imagine how they might add active transportation to their daily commute. We’ll celebrate Bike to Work Day in The Woodlands with a Happy Hour at the Goose’s Acre on The Woodlands Waterway from 5-7 PM. Come join us and talk about the joys and struggles of biking to work.

Encourage Employees to Bike to Work

  • Promote Bike Month activities via email, Slack, or Teams messages. Let folks know they're part of a national effort to promote active transportation.

  • Prepare your space: Do you have safe bike parking? Do you have a space for people to change clothes? Will you encourage a bike convoy or bike meetup? Will you snap a photo?

  • Offer incentives: Consider how you might motivate employees to participate. Will you offer a giveaway to participating employees? Will there be free coffee or snacks?

  • Get recognized! Use the form below to let us know that your workplace will participate in Bike To Work Day. If you take a photo of your employees who bike to work on Friday 5/19, please tag The Woodlands Township and Bike The Woodlands on social media. We'd love to promote your business!
